1917 Red Sox Calendar Kicks off Antiques Roadshow Season

A unique piece of baseball and breweriana gets prime play next week as Antiques Roadshow opens its 26th season on PBS.

In a segment recorded at the Wadsworth Mansion in Middletown, CT earlier this year, appraiser Simeon Lipman discusses an item brought to the event by a man who was interested in learning whether it might have some value.

The piece is one that even advanced baseball memorabilia collectors have probably never seen: a 1917 Boston Red Sox wall calendar, featuring images of the players who had won back-to-back World Series championships, including a guy who was just coming into his own as a dual threat on the diamond.

The owner of the calendar, who bought it at least ten years earlier, wasn’t expecting to get the news Lipman delivered.

The segment will be part of the first episode of Roadshow’s 2022 season and is set to air January 3 at 8 PM Eastern time.
