2020 National Treasures Football Preview
Panini America’s 2020 National Treasures Football will make its usual fashionably late arrival, more than two months after the end of the NFL season. It’s the high-end product that tends to generate the big after market sales for rookie cards both upon release and in the years that follow.
With an April 9 release date planned, a hobby box will contain one pack of eight cards. The pack breakdown includes three autograph cards, three memorabilia cards, a base or insert, and a base or insert parallel. First Off The Line boxes will have Stars & Stripes parallels.
The autographs are on-card signatures, and the memorabilia will, as always, include large patches.
There is a 100-card base set that includes veterans and stars from the past. Base cards are numbered to 99 and will have parallels, too. Parallels can be found in Purple (numbered to 50), Gold (35), Holo Silver (25), Holo Gold (10), Emerald (5) and 1/1 Printing Plates and Platinum. Base Jersey Number Red parallels will have serial numbers up to 99.
The base set cards are usually high quality, but collectors who buy National Treasures are looking for the big hits.
The Rookie Patch Autographs subset includes hard-signed signatures and cards numbered to 99 or less. As the name implies, the cards feature first-year players.
There are plenty of parallels. Green Jersey Number cards are numbered up to 97, and there are parallels in Holo Silver (numbered up to 25), Midnight (20 or less), Holo Gold (10 or less), Black (5 or less), Red Brand Logo (numbered 1/1 or 2), Red (1/1), Red Laundry Tag (1/1), Platinum NFL Shield (1/1), and Printing Plates (1/1).
Crossover Rookie Patch Autographs are numbered to 99 or fewer and borrow from the design of the 2010-2011 National Treasures basketball set. Parallels can be found in Holo Gold (numbered up to 25), Brand Logo (1/1 or 2), Laundry Tag (1/1) and NFL Shield (1/1).
Back for another year is The Future, a card that showcases the top rookies from 2020. There are on-card autographs, and the subset utilizes an acetate design.
New to this year’s set is the Rookie Signatures Field Pass. These cards, featuring large photographs, are numbered up to 99 and have parallels in Gold (numbered up to 25), Silver (10 or fewer), Black (5 or fewer), Platinum (1/1) and Printing Plates (1/1).
Colossal Signatures are numbered to 49 or less, feature autographs of veteran and retired players. Parallels come in Prime (numbered up to 25), Brand Logo (2 or less) and 1/1 cards of Prime Laundry Tag, Prime Brand Logo, Prime NFL Shield and Printing Plates.
Gridiron Graphs Dual features two autographs of teammates and also have a 1/1 Platinum parallel.
The Rookie Jumbo Prime Signatures Booklet features an oversized swatch and a player’s autograph in booklet form. The cards are numbered to 99 or less. Parallels include Prime Signatures Booklet numbered to 10 or less, Laundry Tag numbered to 5 or fewer, Brand Logo numbered to 2 or fewer, and a 1/1 NFL Shield.
Other signed subsets include Prodigy Patch Autographs and Signature Treasury, which are making their debuts this year.
The biggest autograph card for this year’s set are the Treasure Chest Signature booklet cards. This card includes 12 autographs and is numbered to 5 or fewer.
A new insert this year is Super Bowl Immortality, which features players who have excelled in the NFL’s championship game.
