One of a Kind: Patrick Mahomes Rookie Card Sells for $4.3 Million

There were a few big sales long before the doors of the National Sports Collectors Convention opened on Wednesday including a record price for a single football card. PWCC says it sold the 2017 National Treasures NFL Shield Patrick Mahomes Rookie Auto 1/1 for $4.3 million.

The new owner is LJ’s Card Shop in New Albany, OH.

The price surpasses the previous sale of $3.1 million set in March 2021 for a Tom Brady Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket Auto.

The Mahomes RPA is assessed as 8.5, NM-MT+ by Beckett. PWCC called it “among the most important cards produced in the modern era.”

“My goodness,” tweeted Mahomes Wednesday morning.

The card shop owner called it “a piece of art,” and said indicated a desire to “build the best modern-day card collection.”

“This is one of the most desirable and important modern day trading card assets in our entire market and is the most sought-after Patrick Mahomes card on the planet,” Said Jesse Craig, Director of Business Development at PWCC Marketplace. “We are very pleased to bring buyer and seller together to broker this truly one-of-a-kind piece.”
