2021 Onyx Vintage College Football Cards Put College Players in Packs
You can now open a pack of football cards and get NFL prospects who are still in college.
What a time.
The debut edition of 2021 Onyx Vintage College Football will offer some of the first pack pulled cards that have resulted from the new Name/Image/Likeness (NIL) rules, with the players profiting from the use of their names, photos and autographs. And it’s not just seniors or juniors who are expected to leave early for the NFL. You’ll find some teenagers in the product as well.
Among the players that are set to appear: Quarterbacks Spencer Rattler, Matt Corral, Desmond Ridder, Tyler Shough, CJ Stroud, JJ McCarthy, Sam Huard, Graham Mertz and McKenzie Milton; running backs and receivers like Justyn Ross, Bijan Robinson, Chris Olave, Kyren Williams, Jahan Dotson, John Metchie III and defensive standouts such as Derek Stingley Jr, Aidan Hutchinson, Nik Bonitto, and DeMarvin Leal.
While players appear in uniform, school logos and other trademarks can’t be used.
The college-oriented set is a follow up to Onyx’s “Vintage” debut launch last May that included current and former NFL players. The brand takes its name from the vintage-style design of the cards.
Each case of Vintage College will have 24 one-pack boxes with four cards in each pack. Onyx is promising two on-card autographs per pack along with two base cards.
Some of the autographs will carry inscriptions signed by the players. Parallel versions are also possible including:
2021 Onyx Authenticated Vintage College Football is expected to be released in November. There’s no word yet on box or case pricing.
